His Excellency Bishop Frank Caggiano
The Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano was installed as Fifth Bishop of Bridgeport on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at St. Theresa Church in Trumbull, CT. In his installation homily, the bishop spoke of the need to build bridges to youth, to all those who are troubled and neglected, and to Catholics who no longer participate in the life of the Church. A noted catechist, Bishop Caggiano was invited by Pope Benedict XVI to deliver World Youth Day talks in Sydney in 2008, Madrid in 2011, and by Pope Francis to serve as a catechist at World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, 2013. Bishop Caggiano presently serves on four committees of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB): Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis; Subcommittee on the Catechism; Orthodox Union Catholic Dialogue; Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth.
His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle
Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle is the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and the Metropolitan Archbishop Emeritus of Manila. Cardinal Tagle was ordained to the priesthood on February 27, 1982 and taught philosophy and theology at the Divine Word and San Carlos Seminaries as well as the Loyola School of Theology. In 1985 he was sent to the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. to study systematic theology. He earned a licence in sacred theology in 1987 and a doctorate with summa cum laude in 1991. Appointed Bishop of Imus in 2001, youth were the focus of his special attention and he gave weekly video broadcasts on the liturgical readings on the internet. On October 13, 2011 he was appointed Archbishop of Manila. He was created and proclaimed Cardinal by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in the consistory of 24 November 2012. On December 8, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
